Z1R for sale locally updated

#239598
I've been talking via e-mail with a fellow that wants some 1000 parts I had advertised on Craigslist. He mentioned last night that he has a Z1R that he wants to sell, and in the pic he sent me it has a turbo on it. I'm no Z1, Z1R, or Z1RTC, expert, but the turbo appears the same as the actual Z1RTC's that I have seen, but the paint is not original.

He's in Indianapolis, and I'll try to post a pic below.

I figured I'd pass this along since I'm pretty sure there are people here interested in such things :D

Check out his GPz750 Turbo, he definitely don't have a thing about stock bikes and stock paint :D

Take a good look at that swingarm.

Oh yeah, this is just two of many bikes he has, and he does machine work and welding, I'm going to have to make a trip to Indy :D

It's hard to say what it is, but it's not an original. The bodywork is 1980 where the original was 78. He's done a lot to it. It looks like a J head, modern wheels, all different instrumention ect. Could be fun if you like turbos, but it's definately a home brewed frankenbike.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Just to clear up a couple things:

He contacted me about parts I"m selling, I'm not buying anything. :woohoo:
I refuse to buy another bike till my 750E project is finished, I'm really looking forward to riding it.

I don't know if he built either bike, from things he said I believe he built the GPz750 Turbo, But I don't have a clue on the 1000 turbo.

If you want his e-mail address, PM me.

The 750 is crazy too. The turbo isn't the only non-original part on that one, also. The tail section is later model GPz, and I'm wondering about the seat and the side panels too; the passenger pegs are a nice touch as well. Just a pretty nicely pulled-off project.
Pretty crafty guy.

Bad Kaw, how can you tell the turbo is not original on the 750 turbo? It looks like the original H10b to me, and the exhaust that bolts up to the turbo is original, although it was modified about six inches from the turbo.

I'm reasonably certain the bike started off as a GPz750 Turbo.

I already suggested that he replace the wimpy stock front end and brakes :)

I think I see what you are saying, you are thinking that it is a 82 GPz750 that has been modified with the Turbo motor. I'm pretty sure it's a 84-85 GPz750 Turbo that's been modified with 82 body parts. If I could see the frame backbone under the tank I'd know for sure, the Turbo frames have a much larger main tube and are reinforced at each end of the main tube.

Went to Indy to do some trading yesterday, and got a good look at the various bikes.
Z1R was never a Z1R-TC, just has/had a Mr Turbo kit, and a MTC big block with 1327 pistons, and some Andrews ?X cams that he says are too much for the street. And a lock up clutch.

In the corner of the shed under a cover, there was a pristine totally stock GPz750 Turbo, and we found that after moving the late 60's/early 70's Moto Guzi with sidecar out of the way (his daily rider).

Then we noticed the 77 KZ1000 on the other side, GSXR front end and GS1100 swingarm with a 1075 kit, and that's where I lost GPzInfested. From that point on I had to go drag him away from that bike whenever I needed him, and then he'd gravitate right back to it again. Good looking bike. :)

Oh yeah, can't forget the TR7 convertible in the garage, with the Grand National V6 and turbo mounted in it, and fuel controlled by a MegaSquirt.

He said we had to leave because GPzInfested's drooling was causing gullies in the dirt floor of the storage shed. GPzInfested "Really" likes that 77 KZ1000 :D

He said he would e-mail me some pics later.

Edit:

Still haven't received the pics, but I forgot to mention another cool bike he has.

Late eighties ZX6 with a H2 750 triple motor in it, looks like it came from the factory that way, excellent work by whoever installed the motor. Kinda strange, seeing a ZX6 with two expansion chambers on one side and one on the other side :D
