Mike,

When the kickstand is up, will it hit your shifter? What I'm looking at doing with my rearsets (when I get there) is mounting them further back, just behind the rear frame vertical tube. It's a bit further back, and looks like it'll save hitting the shifter. Different riding position, but should work.

As for paint- I'm touching up my frame this year after my build is complete with a spray can job (rollbar paint), then ripping it fully down for powdercoating over next winter. That way if anymore work is needed on the frame, you're not wrecking any of your nice paint work. All personal preference, and just one way to go about it.
The build looks amazing, though. Keep us posted!

Got all the welding done on the frame and the shock mount completed. Then cut off and ground all unnecessary stuff. Moved kickstand and trimmed it down. Painted frame. Now reassembly time!

Okay so here is my $20 exhaust. Off of a 99 Bandit. Still need to make a muffler hanger bracket.

No it didn't bolt right up. I had to do some bending and cutting and welding. I welded on my stock pipes flanges. The welds are behind the header brackets so they can't be seen. Hopefully it will sound good. I may try to bend up the muffler pipe to bring it up at more of an angle but I'm not sure yet...What do you all think?

Nice progress, Mike! Looks really slick. As for the exhaust, that's a sweet $20 deal!!! How much of a drop did you end up with after swapping the front/rear end? On my build, my forks/tire combo drops my front end 4", not sure about the rear yet. You might want to try and bend it up to gain a bit of side clearance if you're going to be leaning it over often. I'm running an exhaust off an '01 Z750 on my bike, and it's got a nice little kick up at the rear section, cleans the look of the bike up a bit and gives a little more clearance for hard lean-overs. In the end, it's your bike, your call on what feels natural.

Here's what the exhaust on my bike looks like

Took her for a ride tonight!! I'm getting some pretty good chain noise, slight exhaust leak and my exhaust scrapes when turning right. It was only about 2 miles and it was cold but fun to get back on!

Tank is painted but still working on fenders and side covers.

looks like you could use a rub strip on the front of that arm under the chain run.
