Hello everyone! was created by nnnnj
Hello everyone! I recently started working on restoring a classic Kawasaki KZ, and I’m looking for advice on the best upgrades to enhance both performance and aesthetics. Are there any specific parts or mods that other KZ owners have found particularly effective? Also, any tips on regular maintenance to keep these older bikes running smoothly would be greatly appreciated!

Good bang for the buck upgrades...
High quality shocks
PTFE brake lines
High quality tires
Download or purchase the factory Kawasaki manual for your bike, and do EVERYTHING. Some worthwhile tasks, that most people don't do, include greasing the steering head bearings (replace them if your bike has loose ball, get tapered roller), and grease the swingarm bearings. Some people like electronic ignition upgrade, although points are tried and true.
Check my signature and read through the "new owner things to know" thread.
Good luck

Welcome to the asylum!
There are many knowledgeable members here who will help you with questions.
In addition to Nessism's suggestions, adding a relay to the ignition coil circuit is a worthwhile upgrade, whether you retain the points system or change to electronic. There are several posts on the forum that show you the installation and parts needed.
And don't forget pictures...

Here for the pics. Also, if it has a 630 chain, convert it to a 530.
