You should have measured the one the broke on your bike, as I said I have a pile of them. I was going to give it to you for free, and have you just pay the shipping.[/quote]

You were absolutely right but I needed one right away for my trip. The overall length of the cable is 36 inches they sent me one that was 34 inches. I bought the bike from the original owner who bought it off the lot the bike has 8600 miles on it tell me that’s not original even if the forks were reversed it still should fit because a speedo cable should still have some type of slack.

Please keep in mind that low mileage does not mean a bike has not been modified (in fact, even the odometer may have been changed) and that the original owner didn’t modify things and would not lie about or forget to mention the mods.

Now, please consider the following:

The 1977 KZ1000-A1 is NOT the LTD model, and according to Kawasaki it uses Part Number 54001-040 for the speedometer cable.

The 1977 KZ1000-B1 is the LTD model, and according to Kawasaki it uses Part Number 54001-057 for the speedometer cable.

Notice that the two part numbers Kawasaki specified are different. If the speedometer cable for the KZ1000-B1 LTD was the same as the one for the KZ1000-A1 (NON-LTD) do you think Kawasaki would have specified two different part numbers for the cables? Ed

It’s truly unfortunate all of this nonsense is from Z1 Enterprises not “accepting” my return . Right part number or not it’s irrelevant if I need to return something I should be able to return it that is not a way to run a company. For the record my bike is a 1977 KZ1000 A1 with a after market LTD seat for my personal comfort which is also irrelevant. All that I am asking is for my money back and the cost of the shipping that I had to pay due to what I mentioned above. Also at the end of this do you guys even have that cable but in 36 inches or even longer for god sakes.

I also apologize to the forum and the people in it that Z1E had to bring up my personal issues and go beyond the topics at hand. All because they don’t have a telephone number sad.

It's not Z1 fault you ordered the wrong cable. To expect them to reimburse for shipping in any way is just wishful thinking. Kawasaki didn't ever sell cables 2" too long to compensate for mods to brakes, like switching caliper from front to rear. Part of the "fun" of buying someone elses modified bike is buying correct parts to compensate. I'm sure they will let you return the cable, but you pay shipping both ways, as it was your error, not their fault.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

When the forks are reversed and the calipers are behind the forks, the speedo drive gets rotated roughly 90 degrees so the cable drive exit now points downwards rather than upwards. The cable needs to loop around the caliper as the speed drive cannot stay in the original position. This is why you need a longer cable.

We do all we can to provide you with accurate information on our web site so you can order the correct cable. We list the cable length so you can check, we list the OEM numbers so you can match against the numbers printed on the cables by the manufacturer.

I think you are unfair trying to blame us for you not knowing what changes had been made to your bike. We would happily take the cable back and refund you the cost of the cable - but your expectation to get refunded return shipping was and still is unreasonable.

We have provided you with details on the cable to fit your modified bike earlier. Our part is TU06-3123. I had provided this link in one of my earlier posts.

On top of this post claiming we sent you the wrong item, you also posted negative reviews in other places that are also unfair and incorrect.

If you purchased this bike as 'all original' you should discuss this with the previous owner.
