I am interested in what your results are! Make sure you let us know...too bad you don't have a baseline of how the bike ran stock.

i hear ya DD. im a lil concerned with the mono shock. once she is running and i get a few miles under my belt ill know if i need to switch over to dual shocks. hopefully i wont, but if i get bored and decide to hit the strip, i wanna make sure she feels right.

itll be a lil while, but ill keep a update in my build thread.

I didn't mean to come off like I was trying to tell you how to spend your money. I was just sharing what I did to get mine set up. What I can tell you is that my bike went from wow to holy shit. I think that if any of us on here were worried about how much money we were spending we would've bought bikes that didn't need to be worked on. I mean hell I put s new rack of carbs and shocks on my bike only to have the clutch come apart 3 days later. I mean really what in the hell are the odds of running out of gas and blowing the clutch up at the same time.......lol That's why I love these old bikes.

Sorry I got a bit long winded,

I will say this: my old man had my grandfathers 77 Kz1000, and he rebuilt it top to bottom (back in 91-92, no idea what was in her). What he didn't do was the carbs, they were still the stock VM26's. He had a bitch of a time getting the bike to run right for a long time, finally got fed up and bought a set of RS36's with K&N pods. I think it was $1200 or something from APE back in the day. I installed the carbs and took the bike for a test run. OH MY GOD! All of a sudden that bike hauled more ass than a Weight Watchers Convention! I have that rack of RS36's on my bench.....

For what its worth Joe, even at 15 years old when I installed those carbs, I was a fairly experienced bike rider(as much as a 15 y.o. can be). That Kz was more than I should have been allowed to ride, and my dad knew it, quickly removing the keys from my possesion
I don't wanna see you get hurt on that monster your building, it's no joke.
