Hello, I recently picked up my first real bike up until now I’ve only ever worked on dirt bikes, I have a 1976 KZ 750, when I bought the bike it would sputter and die with in about a minute of being on, I did all the basic maintenance spark plugs oil and carbs, old plugs were carbon fouled, oil good, carbs cleaned up, and to my knowledge the compression should be solid, however the bike is still having issues sometimes not evening wanting to kick over, figured I should ask before I take the bike apart, if any one has ideas or could point me in the right direction I would appreciate

Flooding will cause no start and sooty plugs. The carbs and fuel petcock probably need some attention. Clean carbs and clean / fuel / tank is a must for a bike to run like it should. One of the most neglected systems on an old kaw.

I think you are talking about a 76 KZ750 twin?
