I always though oxygen was the source of power, the more oxygen you can burn the more power you make. A pipe that doesn't flow enough additional air to require rejetting is not, in my mind, a pipe that would dramatically increase power. I don't believe his claims at all...a whole lotta hype with very vague claims from customers....

Can Murray make his pipes out of stainless? And would it clear a monoshock linkage? If so, I may be interested...

My only disagreement with your post is the part about oxygen burning, it don't.

Oxygen is a catalyst that allows other stuff (known as fuel) to burn. Take a oxy/acetylene torch, turn on the oxygen while leaving the acetylene off and try and light it.

Fuel reacts with oxygen to create combustion. Oxygen combines with iron to create iron oxide, AKA rust. Just thought I'd throw that one out there :)[/quotej]

Why would you feel the need to disagree with my poorly phrased statement? Your statement is simply the reverse of my original post. Oxygen without fuel is just as worthless as fuel without oxygen. Turn on that same acetylene torch without oxygen and you get.....nothing. I did not feel a tutorial on the basic dynamics of fuel combustion was required to make the simple statement that the difficulty of making more power is getting more oxygen into the engine. My statement was in context to the thread, referencing an exhaust system, which to the best of ymy knowledge does not introduce extra catalyst, but does have a direct bearing on the oxygen available for combustion. I simply take exception to you using my post to talk to the readers of this tread like we're morons.

I messaged him asking where I could see more pictures because there are only 2 on the ad and they are crappy. Dude has an interesting way of dealing with potential customers I must say!! lol

"Dear x-pipe,

-You have some pretty wild claims, but only one crappy picture that appears to be from the 70s. Any place I can see some more detailed photos?

-Mr. No Name,
Which "wild claims?" Which "one crappy picture?"
Perhaps you would prefer a crappy UFO from the 60s? Sorry, don't sell them.
X

-Dear x-pipe,

Mr. Pipe,

In apologize for not specifying which picture but there is only two and they don't show much detail. I think the main thing I was looking for for is some professional sounding words from you about your product to maybe back up your claims, but all I get is a smart assed answer. The reason I asked was because a bunch of guys on a forum I frequent were considering buying your pipe, but I think once I show them how you responded to me I'm sure they will look elsewhere. Too bad. In todays economy with everyone scrambling for every dollar I'm quite surprised at your response. Being in motorcycle retail myself for some time, I know that if one wants to sell product one needs to address even somewhat cocky questions like mine with professionalism and tact. I guess you missed that sales meeting huh?

Sincerely,

Terry K.

Dear Mr. Terry K.

Thank you for the ambush. You are the first to try to ambush me in over 30 years of hearing about UFO exhausts (not) - your daddy's exhaust - all the same - all BS.

And what was my sin? I used identical language to yours. Yep, you really got me now.
Boy, I sure wouldn't buy a better exhaust if someone responded with identical verbage to my own.

Thank you for the ambush. Enjoy your little blog. Now, you are the blog big dog.

I'm affraid that your blog friends are probably much smarter than you act.

Hope you enjoy your UFO. No X for you.

Happy sniping.

Dear x-pipe,

lmao, not an act at all, just wanted some simple information. If you can't take a bit of flack, and I do mean a BIT, then maybe you should try hiring someone to deal with the public. What would you do if someone REALLY irate gave you the gears? I hate to think of it!!

Anyhoo, interesting sales technique you have. Hope it all works out for you! Good luck in all your future endeavors!!

I remember the magazines in the early '80's stating that one of the X type pipes didnt live up to it's claims or even match the stock bike IIRC)....cant remember which brand pipe OR which magazine, but it hardly matters since the claims are outlandish anyway. Maybe it matters less now anyway, in the 80's these pipes were supposed to make the fastest bike available even faster. Now if you want a faster bike you can just go buy one from the 25+ model years of development that have come since these pipes were originally marketed. If you like the looks and sound then I guess that may be a good enough reason to buy one.

I've seen this picture before, and each time I see it again I wish that I had more than 2 sets of exhaust to try out on my bike. ;)
