Years ago, mid-90's, my KZ1kST would ping with anything less than 92. Yea, I tried the other grades, no difference.

Now, I ONLY run non-ethanol fuel. If you need to find a station, in the US or Canada, check this site: pure-gas.org/

The way I've got the ign. box mounted I just pull the side cover and turn a knob.
it's got five preset adv. curves.

VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

Dom with the Dyna I can change the timing turning a knob and don't have to pull
the points cover.and move the points plate.

A couple checked out in Ill and is 91 octane pure.......... bought a couple 5 gal cans a few times but not lately..... love the 2000 Dyna too Dave saved the cash and bought a S set up and coils but may have sprung for that if I would have went with the 810 kit and bigger cams (still kicking myself for not).
1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.
