Great pics and story, Patton. You've done a great job on that Z. Shows what some TLC and some bucks can do if you're really motivated.

Not afraid of 500 mile days on these bikes (but prefer more casual 400 milers).

WOW, I don't like to drive that in a car:P :P

Nice bikes!!

That swingarm looks like it could be an old RC Eng. or D&K Eng. Just my WAG.

did the 79 fender fit right into the 73 forks and did the bolt holes line up?

i have an extra one with a small dent/scrathches that i could maybe convert for another project with filler and paint if so??

i like those j style aluminum exhaust flanges...i have a brand new set too...and am wondering about borrowing them from my stalled j-bike ...to hold on my kerker to the MKII......

Did you need to use shorter j model split collars to get the aluminum flanges to recess onto the studs enough to show threads on the exhaust studs...or can i use standard kz split collars with the j style flange...?....

I use the alum. collars with the longer split collars. Z1E has a thicker exhaust gasket that I would recomend you use.

Great looking bikes!!!

Thanks, Roy. :cheer:

Responding to Tri's questions --

My vague recollection is that the fender may be mounted using the oem holes.
However, new holes were bored to mount the front fender higher above the tire, as a matter of personal preference.

The split collars that came with the V&H exhaust were used with new oem style copper gaskets from Z1E.

Good Fortune! :)
