Sorry I haven't been around a bunch. The bike has been moving slowly. The engine cases i got are for the trubo motor. which meant i had to get some spacers and a new transmission. its coming along though now. just need to redo the clutch cover and get a bolt for the rotor. then double check my cam timing and she'll be ready for the frame. The frame has taken a complete transformation. I had found the bike was too high. So i cut the tabs off for the subframe and bent one out of 1 inch tubing. and started making a seat out of an old tank. the seat is gonna be welded to the subframe and the electronics will mount from underneath.I have repainted the forks and the brake rotors. so all that stuff is ready to go on. just waiting to finish the engine and frame and i can start putting it together. Wire and chain alignment is after that.

Wow TMX, it looks like most of the fabrication is complete, and you're close to assembly? It seems like there has been a noticable shift in the project forum toward bobbers/choppers, away from the hybrids. It's good to see an update from you. How long until you get the rough assembly together?

Well I started work on the metal bumstop. I also found that with the ear tire on the bike that the subframe was too short. heres some pics of the progress.

I like the radiused subframe supports, I don't think I ever noticed them before. You're right, that tail does look a little short. How much longer than stock is the new swingarm?

Thompsonmx100, I must say that I prefer the new steel subframe to the previous aluminum version. You're gonna have a wet back if you ride through a puddle.

BTW what's the other cafe bike in your garage? I see a cafe tail in the background of one picture.

Thanks for the compliments. I cut and added 2.5 inches to the subframe today. That should bring the end of the frame to the end of the swingarm. The swingarm is about 2.5 inches longer than the stocker. The other bike in the shot is going to be my race bike. Its a cb 350 that we picked up for the wife. But we have since gotten her a cb500t. So i get to build the 350 into a race bike. Got some cool ideas for that thing too. Should have some more pics this weekend.

Well I was able to get the subframe lengthened this week. I also mocked up my battery tray. Redneck style.

I always liked that option with a cafe style bike, hiding all your electrical in the tail. It looks soooooooo clean that way, very minimalistic B)

I spent more time scratching my head over the battery box than any other single part of my bike. Good on ya, if it all fits under the tail. Lets see some pics of the CB 350 when you get a chance.

Well as usual not as much was accomplished as I had hoped this weekend. Damn beer and football. I did make some turn signal brackets and a rear brake reservoir bracket. I mounted both of those. I then made a new battery tray. this one fits better and then made a bracket for the taillight. I am planning on using hairpins to secure the the battery tray. With cables and such. like miniature hood pins. Im gonna use rubber backed washers and gonna drill little dimples in them should look like a nice set of hood pins.

Thanks for the comments. I had time to work on the battery tray. It came out pretty good. I still need to clean the battery box up. Just finished it. The tray fits nice and tight. there is a rubber washer between the aluminum panel and the frame. The washer between the pin and the panel is rubber backed also. It fits pretty tight. Almost difficult to get it pinned. The battery box came out pretty slick. Heres some pics.

Looks clean, until you get all those damn wires in there. That part always gives me fits.

So you can just pull the pins and the whole thing drops out the bottom?

Keep an eye on those pins once you get her on the road. I have had those back out due to vibration on my RC cars before. They make a style with a hoop that lifts over the pin for added security. Click the link: www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPM51&P=0

I have used these, and they stay in place much better. I'd hate to see you dragging your battery by the wires. I'm not sure if they are the same size, but thought you could tell.

Thanks Testarosa. I had seen those pins at the store too. They would not have worked with my original design so thats why i didn't get them. I am gonna try these they are very tight as they are meant for a 1/4 inch stud as opposed to a 3/8's. If I see any funny business I will not hesitate to change to the "new style" pins. I could also safety wire them. And yes i just pull the pins and the whole battery tray will drop out of the bottom. I will have a plug that all but the primary wire will go into. So when i drop it down i can just disconnect the battery and unplug the plug. I hope it works out as I plan.

But I also have a million things to do. need to do the rear brakes on the van build a work bench and paint some spot in the house for our christmas party next weekend.

Well the holidays passed.I have put the bike together and I am hoping this is final mock up. I am just kinda picking things off of it and finishing them as I go. I have finished the battery box and tray I also finished the taillight bracket. I drilled several holes in the battery box to lighten it up a bit.
