So here is my attempt at a Giuliari-style seat. It didn't come out the greatest, but it'll do till I can save enough money for a new seat of some kind.

A for effort. I did my seat from scratch too... to save $.

Later I sprang for a Saddleman seat cover... it was hard for me to compete with the pro's unless maybe I had all their resources.

Best of success, :)

Thanks Bill.

I've already taken it off to see if I can do a bit with the foam to see if I can make it look a little better. It sure is hard trying to do this with a bit of foam and a couple utility knives.

So, not happy with my seat at all, I was perusing eBay today, and found the exact seat of my dreams. Its a new old stock Giuliari seat for a kz650. Only problem, its $350 shipped from where it is in Austria. Now I know a corbin would be about $450, and thats the next best thing, and these Giuliaris are very hard to come by these days since they haven't been made since 85. I dont know what to do. Should I just get a cafe tail for $100 and cover it myself? Or go for the dream seat? The Giuliari would really complete my look, I'm going for 80's roadracer, not really into cafe for this bike.

In other news, Larry has either started or will start soon on the head. And my pistons and stuff should be ordered next week sometime. And then theres the huuuge order of random stuff from z1 that always occurs every time your bike is apart. I was hoping to get some fork work done this week, but that didn't happen, hopefully this weekend I can measure up for my rear fender eliminator and oil cooler mount. And I gotta get my swingarm out the door too so Leon can brace it up for me. So there should be a lot of progress soon when everything starts to get here.

Pistons ordered, dropping stuff at powerdercoater tonight, and my head is next in line at Mr. Cavanaugh's!

I also recieved my mocal oil thermostat the other day, and I have my sidecovers all polished. Only thing I have to do currently is find somewhere I can sandblast my engine cases and cylinder block. I want to get that done before they go to the machine shop so I can paint as soon as they get back and then start assembly.

Pics to follow...

Very neat project. Personally I like the 80s superbike look over the cafe look. Where did you order your pistons from? I have an 83 GPZ750 engine sitting on my garage floor and 2 KZ650s and am hoping to do an 810 project too. Keep the progress going!

So, my brake calipers, fork bottom tubes, and carb float bowls and caps are with the powdercoater now. And I also made a huge order from Z1 today. Ordered a load of socket head cap screws for my engine and carbs today from the local fasteners place. Hopefully I can get the engine blasted this weekend, so it can be bored and then painted next week. I have to blast and repaint a tiny bit of my frame, but not much.

And then...assembly!!!
