Your post was 3:30 am here..... but it goes back to a post where you said I'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to get a post in before you.... it was an ambiguous reference so I understand the confusion. Now get that bike together!
On a side note, have you seen any cool Z's while in Europe?

Haven't seen any Z's at all, its disappointing.

Time to revive my thread I think. I've got exhaust collars for my zr7 exhaust on the way, and some nuts for my calipers so I can get my front brakes all buttoned up. I also have a bung and plug coming to wend into my exhaust collector so I can run a wideband o2 sensor. Hopefully next week I can get the bike brought in to the city so I can start working on it.

Task list:
Muffler mount
Headlight ears painted/powdercoated
Fender eliminator
Oil cooler mount
Weld on swingarm stand dealies
Make cam sprockets adjustable
Measure for cam shims
Set cam lobe centers
Weld bung in exhaust for o2
Mount o2 sensor
Tune
Ride!

Body should get painted somewhere along the way, but I don't care if it gets done or not.

+1 Good to see that you escaped from your terrible, teutonic, taskmasters. Got a plan for which wideband you will use? I discovered that those spark plug anti-foulers make good O2 sensor bungs.

I already bought one off ebay, came with a plug, which is good because I only want it to be temporary.

I'm gonna buy a DIY kit from 14point7.com. At 175 for the whole thing including sensor, its a good deal.

So, I have my 810 as you know. I was going to put on an oil cooler, using the GPz750 pan and cooler, with a mocal thermostat. But then I asked Lorcan for his opinion, since there doesn't seen to be one on his bike. His opinion is that a cooler is unnecessary, as long as the bike is running well, which mine will be since I'll be tuning it using an O2 sensor. So I'm inclined to go with a regular oil pan and forget the cooler. I'm gonna have an oil temp sensor installed so I can make sure she doesn't overheat anyways. My other concern is that it'll be hard to get the thermostat to tuck behind the zr7 exhaust since it has crossovers in the header, and I refuse to run the cooler without the thermostat, since I'll be riding in temps between 50-65°F normally, and you rarely spend a lot of time stuck in traffic here.

I guess I'm looking for opinions since I'm gonna sell my stuff, and I want confirmation that my thinking patterns aren't crazy(in this matter anyways).

Tyler, I tend to agree with Lorcan. You aren't running an outrageous compression ratio or really hot cams are you? I also agree with the logic of not running a cooler without a thermostat. You should know as well as anyone here that you don't want to run around with oil that never gets to temperature. With all that said, it doesn't mean that your thinking patterns aren't still crazy. :P

Haha thats why I put the caveat in there!

I've pretty much decided to rid myself of this stuff and get a regular pan. I dont have a crazy ratio or super hot cams. Just GPz cams, and 10.25:1 compression. So tell your friends! Buy Tyler's stuff so he can get on with his build!!

Good move. I actually removed the oil cooler form my 700 build up. Not neccesary even with the incresed comepression. In hot climates or racing applications its a different story, but for most its going to cause more problems than it will solve.

I hear you about school, I have two weeks left and I can't wait to be free again. Thought I was done the first time I graduated....

Good to see you didn't give up.B)

Sooooo, lifes been in the way of me doing much internet posting lately, so I was on another one of my kzrider absences. But I just ordered a bunch of stuff for the bike, so I figured I'd update. Got a regular oil pan a while back, that's dandy. Need to get it powdercoated as soon as my powdercoating guy gets out of the hospital.

So I guess as soon as last night's order from Z1 gets here, I get a mount fabbed for my muffler, and I finish the wiring on the bike with the new reg/rec, I'll give starting her a go.
