So no updates from me in a while, haven't been up to a whole lot, just little things.

Engine parts all ready for paint and taped up, just gotta wait for a little free time to spray them.

Also plastigauged the bottom end today, everything is under .063mm. Standard ranges for crank and rods top out at .072 and .067 respectively, so they're good to go. Quite a relief too, I don't have money for all new bearing shells.

Everything seems to be in line to get the engine assembled late next week. Hopefully I can snap a few pics of my work as I paint and re-assemble the old beast. After that its on to painting nic nacs and sorting all the thousand things that need to be sorted for final assembly of the bike.

It's those hundreds of little things that take the most time, but seem to be the most boring....You'll get her together no problem. You haven't screwed with any of the factory chassis parts, or wiring, so it should be fairly straight forward B)

Oh the wiring is getting screwed with, don't worry! But I know my way around electronics, not a big deal. Once I get the engine together and the frame painted it should be smooth sailing. The only things I have to fab are the rear stand mounts, a fender eliminator, and an oil cooler mount. But they have to wait till the bike is mostly assembled.

I've done a full teardown and rebuild on this bike before, minus the engine, so there wont be any real surprises. But I'm cutting out the ignition switch, coil mod, and re-wiring a lot of the main stuff, might get a new fusebox too with blade fuses. I want to make the electrical system reliable again along with improving a few things.

Please tell me that you are cutting out the coil mod, and not adding it. The coil mod nazis are marching in force these days. Get that camera working. We want to see!

Haha, cutting out for sure. The thing was a band aid to get my bike working, and now I'm doing a proper rebuild, I may as well sort my wiring.

Engine painted!!! Big hurdle done, now just have to wait for the paint to cure a bit before I start assembly. Should be assembling next week sometime, unless I get time on the weekend, which isn't likely. Hopefully I can get a pic tomorrow night. I'm also gonna design my fender eliminator tomorrow night.

On the electrical side of things, I'm gonna try to remember to print a wiring diagram at school tomorrow so I can plan out my new wiring system for the main components. I also have to find a toggle switch that can handle the same amount of current as the stock ignition switch. Ideas?

IMHO, at only $15.40 USD plus quick delivery, why bother with anything other than a replacement switch?

Not yet Mark, between school and working on the bike and helping my brother in law build a house I'm short on time these days.

Bill, I want to get rid of my switch entirely, because I'm doing away with the stock dash and I dont want anything there besides my acewell speedo. I plan on rewiring everything important, and routing it through a toggle switch under the seat. That way its still protected by a key. If a toggle switch is a terrible idea then I'll get a new ignition switch but its still going under the seat somewheres. OMR, if you're reading this chime in.

Don't worry about it, I'd rather have the good advice be given even if I'm not gonna use it haha.
