Thanks Wirewulf, I do have a roll of black duct tape but I think I'll recover it instead.I tried the duct tape on another seat, ended up sticking to my butt. This bike is part '79 and part '76 and part homemade. Rides like a lumber wagon but it's alot of fun! She went on her maiden voyage yesterday with only a few minor prob's, back and forth to work today with no prob's.

Wow that's pretty sweet! I love how low it looks, do you end up sitting far forward (crotch rocket style)?
Did you do a paint-gun paint job or rattle-can it?

Kwaka you may want to search ebay and see if you can find a set of short shocks. I put a set off a 500 Vulcan on my 77 650 C-1 and I really like them they are 2" shorter than stock so they should maintain about the same ride height you have with the struts you have on it now. Unless you want it to ride like a lumber wagon.:P

Thanks conpewter, yes I do sit forward, sort of like a crotch rocket, it's a little to far forward for more than about the 11 miles I ride to work. Seriuosly thinking about changing the bars for super bike bars like on my kz1000. The paint job is just rattle can for now , she be stripped down this winter for a proper paint job.

Hey Gringo, what year Vulcan was that and do you have any issues with anything rubbing, such as tire to frame? And no I don't really like the ride around town, the hiway is not bad though (mostly hiway to work and back).

No issues with the shocks at all they bolt right on. I believe the ones I used were off a 2000 model but pretty much any year should work ok. The shocks they use on the 750 Vulcan should also work too and they are air shocks however they seem to fetch a lot of money from what I've seen. I only paid $29 including shipping for mine. Heres a link to some pics of them mounted on the bike. kzrider.com/component/option,com_joomlab...it,20/limitstart,20/

Thanks Gringo for the info, time to start searching ebay. Did you slide your forks up in the tripple trees at all, or leave them stock? Mine are slid up 3/4 inch. BTW I like the paint!
