On my " stock " head light * ( sealed beam ) of my 77' KZ1000A I like to covert over to a H4 headlight. Is there a simple headlight assembly I can purchase that doesn't break the bank or is there a used H4 headlight assembly from a different motorcycle I could purchase ?

Right now I have K&S smaller turn signals mounted to the headlight ears that are 10mm threads. These are the marker lights I'm using only the fronts are amber.

Or maybe there is a 7" headlight lens w/H4 bulb that would fit my stock bucket ?

Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated :)

You can probably use the H4 headlight from an 80s model. Lens unit, H4 bulb & dust cover.
On my 81 650-CSR I installed the stuff from an 82 KZ750 Ltd. It was a direct swap.
From a quick check at Partzilla the 77 1000A has the same headlight ring part numbers as my csr, so it should work on your bike.
Get an H4 bulb of the same wattage as your stock bulb (not higher).

ps: the lens unit I got was cloudy, so I cleaned it with denatured alcohol.

Excellent advice! Not only can it overtax the bike's electrical system, it can hurt the headlamp.

Years ago I had a Marchal H4 headlamp in my KZ650. It was high quality and worked very well. When the bulb burned out I replaced it with a 100w bulb (100w on high beam) that was intended for offroad use. That bulb was VERY bright and I loved it, BUT it wasn't long before it fried the reflective coating inside the headlamp and caused it to peel which ruined it. Ed

What about these units on eBay? Chinese and cheap, but complete. Anyone used one ?

I've had so many bad experiences with made in China stuff ( toasters, security lights etc) recently that I wouldn't even look at those unless there was nothing else

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI took the one out of a KZ 550 and put it in my Z1. I was using a7" halogen automotive headlight You can get one like this. Later I put in a HID unit in it.

Sweet, If I could just buy a H4 headlight as shown above from your Link, could I bolt this into my "stock" headlight shell off my KZ ?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI converted to an H4 years ago.
I think I bought the conversion kit off ebay or Z1enterprises.
They do fit the stock shell.

A few years back I switched to a HID bulb.
Light is even brighter, and uses less power.
There is a bit of wiring, and a ballast to mount, but it is the best light I've ever had.

The light I bought:

That was just a example. There are others even euro style ones. It was the cheapest though. The HID kit comes with the ballast and they supply the relay free if you ask. I didn't but I had a issue so they sent me one free of charge. LED is also another option. I just wish I got the Hi/Lo for a few extra $$.
