Going to have to buy a battery soon. Have not had great luck with my recent Yusa batteries. The one I put in my S3 failed within a year.

Also, not crazy about going to the new-style lithium batteries mostly because I saw a garage fire caused by one left on the wrong charger and now that I am old that seems like something I might do. YUASA might fail but it probably won't torch my house.

Suggestions welcome on battery choice for this model which won't get ridden very often.

Happy New Year

Was the Yuasa a wet-cell battery or AGM? What type of charger do you use?

My current battery is a Scorpion AGM from batterystuff.com, purchased over a year ago. Even though it has been very good, I would rather have tried a Yuasa AGM as they are made in USA. I didn't think to look into theirs. doh.
I use a Ctek US 0.8 smart charger & VC97 digital multimeter.

I get my batteries from High Tech Battery Solutions. One year warranty. Sent me the smaller one for a KZ 900 LTD and sent me a bigger one for $5 and gave me the other one. I sold it of course. B)

AGM batteries are vastly superior to a conventional lead/acid battery. I'm a fan of Motobatt batteries after reading a long test some guy did and posted on the internet. One of the nice things about them is that they hold their charge well even if the bike sits a lot. No acid to spill too of course.

The Scorpion AGM was 12.79 VDC straight out of the box & it holds its charge. Although it hasn't really needed it, I've put it on a charger a few times, just to use the charger. hee.
