Hey everyone,

Lost my set of keys for my 79 kz1000 ltd. What do I do? Apparently if I take the ignition off then I can get a new key made at a locksmith.
Suggestions?
Thanks

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationTake a close look at each of the locks near the keyhole. You may find a number stamped there. If you do, you can probably just buy a Kawasaki key with that number and it should fit. Mine has a 3 digit number that is also on the key, but other models have different codes. Here's one example:

Remind me to file that number off now so theives can't just dup a key and ride my bike off into the sunset...

that happened to me last year with my 76 900, my ignition had no #, & it doesn't have a fork lock, & I could barely see a # on the seat lock, had to clean it with windex & get a magnifying glass to make out the #s, then I called a few locksmiths, because not all of them have the machine to make a key by # ...after all said & done, it cost me 19.00 for them to make me 2 keys

That's right. As long as they are all the same it will work. My fork lock was broken years ago I suspect by some thief trying to get the bike. I have a new system now.
