I have a 83 KZ1100 and I bought both handlebar controls off off ebay dirt cheap in like new condition. Throttle side was plug and play. Left side appears to have 3 wires for clutch switch where my 83 only has 2 wires. Other than that controls are identical. Anyone know which two wires need to go to clutch switch and what third wire is for? Thanks

By any chance do you know what model the clutch switch is from? Maybe it had a side stand switch. ???
I don't know much about it, but the EN450 wiring diagram shows the side stand & clutch switches wired thru a diiode device. When the clutch lever is pulled in, the circuit is completed between black & yellow/black (ground); the extra wire is black/red.

The 84 ZN1100 has a junction box with a diode device, instead of the old-style fuse box found on the 83 1100. The extra wire probably had something to do with the diode as part of the starter lockout stuff. just a guess.

If the wire colors are the same as the EN450 & they probably are, then I'd try it without using the red/black wire.
