my tach and speedo are shot. in fact nothing up front lights up. bulbs are shot and glass is broken.

there used to be a refurbisher but to my understanding they no longer refurbish your equipment. i need a new setup or something elegant to replace the current setup on my kz900.

any help would be appreciated.

willing to buy a tested stock replacement so long as the tach does not exceed 20k

i do prefer help finding a modern digital/mechanical hybrid replacement.

also, a guide on rebuilding my shit would also be appreciated.

Disassembling Meters . also Z1-Resto
To open them you have to either cut or un-crimp the clamping ring as it is pressed in place at the factory. wiredgeorge over at wgcarbs may have a how-to w/ pics linked on his site somewhere. Or it may still be here somewhere, perhaps in the archives.

not sure if anyone has the glass.

Alternative meter assys: 82-2005 KZ1000 Police. ZRex 1100 or 1200: new aftermarket ZRX are available on eebbaayy --- either the complete assy or the cover assy. The meters might be cheap chinese junk, but you could use the cover assy to freshen up a used ZRex gauge set.

I plan on buying the set from Z1 parts. I wanted to buy them one by one but they told me the Tach. won't fit my stock bracket. I wonder why. Other ads don't say anything about this. My gauges are shot too and I'm tired of FKing with them.

thank you to the extreme.

i will research this on Saturday.

im hoping to have this finished early next month. 60 mile round trip commute driving my f250 in the dark is costing me $15 in diesel a day. being able to see the controls on my kz900 will definitely fix that.

now i just need to paint it and replace the brake hoses.

Get the universal kit, it comes with a few different magnets for the pick-up. The bracket you will have to make.
How it looks on my bike now

Keep in mind I bought the dashboard for mine so it looks different.

Unless I can find a good used one I'll buy one too. The price is going down. Have to pay the Lib CA sales tax.
