 The old battery on the bike is an AGM, and I'm thinking of purchasing a TruGel to replace it with. I'd like to read a few opinions here first, before making a final decision.
The TruGel is going to cost about $100-$110 shipped, and that is what my new-battery budget is. Any better ideas?

What AGM battery was it & how long did it last?
If longevity was a problem, did it receive proper service? Thanks.

Adventure Power...a good battery, but constant use on the bike while the electrical system wasn't charging properly took a toll over a year and a half. It still works and holds a charge, but has lost its resilience, I believe.

You can't put a GEL in these bikes unless you can adjust your regulator voltage down to compensate for the lower charge voltage on the GEL batteries.

I like AGM batteries so I can lose the drain hose and not worry about acid all over the place. They cost a bit more, but branding doesn't really matter because virtually all the brands mentioned above source their batteries from a handful of factories in China. Unlike flooded batteries, variability in AGM batteries makes a difference as I've seen crappy ones with cheap vents die in a very short amount of time.

Just remember to keep them topped up over the coming winter. Charge every month, or get a Battery Tender. If it's a trickle charger make sure the float voltage is low enough to not dry the battery out, usually about 13.5V.

Interstate usually has good product. in Canada I deal with cdnrg.com

Really? got one on mine and I like the improvement, but only a few hundred miles in a few months is too early to tell.

Ah wait, i stand corrected... because the Bikemaster "TruGel"... is NOT actually a Gel battery!

para 2:
"So, what is a TruGel battery? What most folks don’t know is...It is an ADVANCED AGM battery!"

Get a LiFePo (Lithium Iron)_battery and just ignore it over the winter. Three years and counting on the one in my 750 twin. It only gets ridden a couple times a year and has not seen any kind of charger since I installed the new battery.
