I've ridden my shiny 650 about 550 miles, most of it country roads. I put in a new, freshly charged battery. I've noticed the starter has turned a bit slower each time and today it was particularly lame. So after riding about 60 miles I immediately measured the voltage on the battery; 11.76V. Hence it's not charging enough.

I am not sure what charging system there is in my B1, but I do now it's been modified with different wires coming out of the alternator cover and a different voltage regulator. So I plan on taking the stock items from the spare bike.

Now finally the question; are there static tests I can perform on my spare bike that will ensure the alternator, regulator and rectifier works properly, or will I not know until parts are on the bike and bike is running?
