I did this mod to my 78 KZ1000 this last weekend and did it without the pigtail due to the fact that the Autozone I went to did not have it. It's working, but I still think I will order the pigtail and that seems like a better way to go.
I want to say thanks to WiredGeorge! What a difference this had made for starting my bike. I have been kick starting it for the last few years because it was so hard to get it to start on the button. Now it starts in the blink of an eye! I will be applying this same technique to my old Hondas too!
