See the Coil Repowering mod by going to our website; it is under "wg's Tech Stuff Index".

Now if George could only figure out a way to eliminate those high dollar regulator/rectifiers.

If you don't want to use a "high dollar" reg/rec, I think loudhvx has posted instructions or has them on his website for a "do-it-yourself" unit using Radio Shack components. I don't know anything about cars but it might be possible to use a reg/rec from a Chevy... not sure how their alternators work (how many phases, etc). You could always research that route as a car unit is also likely less expensive than a motorcycle reg/rec.

I decided to make my 79 KZ1000E my only rider so I will likely replace the stator and reg/rec and associated connectors with stuff Z1enterprises.com sells. He sells both units by Ricks and they are pretty good units. The stock stuff is still working but is OLD and I like NEW and RELIABLE electronic stuff.

I have a question about this mod... a couple actually.

I have a stock KZ750 (twin), and want to do this mod. However, I am confused about #86 on the diagram. Does this connect to the same place #87 does....

Any one have a picture of where 86 runs to on the coil side?

Also, will this increase my gas mileage? (potentially)

Thanks so much..

Nope, they dont go to the same place. #86 goes to the yellow/red stripe (on my kz650) coming back off your ignition that used to hook up to your coils. This powers your coils up until you do the mod. Then you disconect it, run it to #86, then run #87 to the coils, where the wire you now have running to #86 used to hook up.

I hope thats not gibberish.
