Doesn't his bike have mechanical slide carburetors? KZRider loudvhx may have jetting info for TK-22 carbs on his motorcycle stuff page --- links available in his signature.

PS: if you don't know the age of the rear brake shoes, replace them. The adhesive that binds the linings to the shoes can fail over time, so a lining can come loose & get jammed between a shoe & drum, locking the rear wheel. It happened to me so it does happen. doh.

Much easier tuning for pods if you have slide carbs, CV's are a lot more sensitive.

My guess would be one size up on the main jet and maybe tweak the needle height, tune top down, get your WOT main jet size first.

Do you know the jet sizes? it looks to be 32 pilots and 92 and main jets if this is correct let me know. If you decide to go to individual air filters i will help you with jetting. i worked for a cycle shop for many years and jetted all kinds of bikes including these ones with the tk carbs. I myself prefer individaul filters i like to bring in as much air as possible and add some fuel. However If your a hardcore rider that rides in the rain then individual air filters is not for you.

Thanks turbo! It ia a 32 pilot and 92 main. I will not be driving in the rain on this bike so I should be good. I have a rebuild kit that they gave me with the bike and the pilot needle can be raised higher. The kit has a new set of 92 main jets. I can drill these out on the mill at work. One question I do have in the process of cleaning the carbs I noticed that the idle mixture screw is capped and the manual says when cleaning remove cap/plug clean and then replace the plug. Is it necessary to replug?

Shouldnt need to replug it's so you dont mess with them... Kind of bs item.

Everyone used to do it; honda, Suzuki, yamaha, chevy, ford, mopar. Just to lean the carbs out for emissions standards.

I would not mess with the plugs. I always hated getting a set of carbs to work on were they was removed. They are set from the factory its a good sign that no ones ever messed with them. As far as jetting goes i would go with 34 pilots and 102 main jets. This will get you right in the ball park. I would not drill out the jets they are almost impossible to drill them all equally. The needles should have 5 adjustments i would set somewhere in the middle. hope this helps.thanks dave
