I need a air filter and I would rather not get a K&N. Does anyone know of a regular filter to fit this bike. All suppliers jump over this model (e). I am sure there must have been more than a few bikes made with this airbox.:S

They made a bunch of motorcycles with that airbox setup. To be precise it was a 1979 KZ1000ST and a 1980 KZ1000ST :( Sorry but ST parts are model specific, never used before and never again and never on any other KZ. For that reason parts for the ST are a big problem, even things you'd think would be generic like an air filter. Nope.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Actually, the ST airbox is one of Kawasakis greatest engineering feats! So many parts buried so far into the frame of the bike. I considered myself pretty clever just rooting the airbox out of my project bike. Problem is, I doubt I am smart enough to get it all back in again so it will never see its way into my bike. You could try z1enteprises.com for a replacement filter but as already said, the airbox was DEFINITELY a unique bit!

Try UNI...

www.unifilter.com/online%20catalog/streetkawasaki.html

It looks like they make a filter that fits the stock airbox... I'll agree with WG though... once I finally got my air box out, I decided not to go back to stock.

Good luck!

Hey,
I was down at the shop this afternoon and took a look at the stock filter that I have... it looks almost new. If you want it, I'll send it to you... just shoot me an address at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you want to see it, I can post a picture a little later... gotta get my kids to bed.
