It does not look like mine from '77. My serial number is early 6000's for '77, nor does it look lik my 78' cover. I'm clueless.

never seen one like that before but you guys in States get some bikes/parts we don't in Oz.

Is it possible someone has ground down the lip/rib/webb ?

If done properly you cannot tell.

It's an old trick to make a late Z1A or Z1B cover to look like a Z1 or early Z1A cover by grinding the outter lip out, again cannot tell if done el-smicko.

I have those cover on my 78 KZ1000 LTD.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Yes most likely ground down. It was chromed. The guy thought it would look better with a nice end with new shiny chrome
