I believe that it should, I think the only difference between an MK II & an ST, is that the MK II is chain drive & an ST is shaft drive

Not even close. Sorry. No bodywork from the MKII will interchange with the ST. Everything on the ST is larger. May look the same in pictures, but no, no way to use the parts between the two.
I have both.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

pictures are deceiving
red one is an ST, and the blue one is an MK II

I have seen a few of both, and I think the dimensions of the seat itself are the same, the hinges and stuff under the seat are at different places..

The seats look the same, but not even close. The ST is much wider, the whole ST is a big motorcycle for its time, where the MKII was more or less normal size. I love both of them, but if you have one, don't expect to swap any parts if you buy the other. All bodywork including guages, all suspension, fenders, all different on the ST, Air intake different. They used up man hours beyond comprehension when the ST came out to make every part different and unique to the model and never used again.

Left top: aftermarket MK2 right top: another aftermarket MK2
left bottom: aftermarket ST right bottom: original ST

Yep, both ST's are a little short of an inch wider.. ;)

Thanks for the info about the difference in the seats
my seat pan is rusted out, so I'am chasing a good replacement.
Where can I get one of those aftermarket seats from?
