So my tach on my kz650 has been dripping oil on the pipes it's annoying. Which seal do I replace? I replaced the one that goes on the outside inside the assembly. Not the o ring. And it's still leaking so what's causing this?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThat is a common leak. When mine leaked there I replaced the parts listed below. That was 8 years ago and it has not leaked since. I believe you can still get them at the local or online Kawasaki parts dealers or maybe new old stock on eBay, or you can buy the aftermarket kit at

For anyone who hasn't done the tach seal before & if you're new to this stuff:
On another Kaw forum someone recently broke his cylinder head where the bolt threads in.
So use a good penetrant & give it time to work, before trying to remove the tach holder bolt.
Kroil is supposed to be best. I use LiquidWrench penetrating spray lubricant ---- it's readily available & cheap & it works.
pb blaster didn't do as good in a test that's floating around the internet. wd40 isn't a penetrant.

and be sure to use a JIS screwdriver bit NOT a Phillips. If you need a description of JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) bit just ask; you can easily make your own in just a couple minutes. DO NOT tackle that screw with a Phillips or you will just round it out. Ed
