I see a used big bore kit on e-bay for KZ1000J models and it has 12.5 to 1 pistons. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to buy this kit and then get a cylinder block spacer from APE to get the compression down to a streetable number. And can someone tell me how thick the spacer would need to be to get to, say 10 to 1 compression?

You might find that taking compression down that far with high compression pistons won't work a well as flatter pistons to the same compression ratio.

I did the opposite on my 550, skimmed head with flat top pistons that works really nice - a lot better than expected actually. The 'squish' effect is important

Also I've never seen ebay used big bore kits with any proper measurements - as if someone building these wouldn't know how to do a basic feeler guage check, you could just be buying scrap metal.
