I had a similar problem, and with the extra fuel going into the combustion chamber being unburned it is diluting the oil on the wall of the cylinder which is critical for maintaining the compression within the cylinder. We never got bikes with these dopey pet cocks, only on : off and reserve. Saves a lot of trouble

The best way to fix a vacuum operated petcock is to throw it in the scrap pile :woohoo: :woohoo:
