My 1980 kz750, 22,500 miles, has a fairly loud noise coming from the right side of the engine. I think it's coming from the clutch.

Are these bikes known to have a lot of clutch rattle when the bike's warmed up ?? Is there a specific part, or parts that are known for doing this ??

There is a guy on the KZ650 site that sells clutch basket dampers. I bought a set but haven't installed them yet...forums.kz650.info/index.php?topic=4820.0

Bumping and old thread here as it seems the dampers are stuffed in all my clutches, tool steel would probably be softer than the rock hard dampers in mine. I checkedout the kz650 forum but can't see any pictures.

Have you got around to fitting it yet? (no probs, often i hoard bits for years before fitting them)

Apart from this geezer in Australia, anyone else doing clutch damper inserts? I take it these were never available as a factory part only as a clutch basket assembly?

You are correct, they were never available separately. That's probably because installation requires removing the old studs and welding in (or otherwise fastening in) new ones.
