The stock KZ750 4's were pretty quick bikes; in fact VERY quick for the time period. See link below - 12.03 second 1/4 mile - 126 mph top speed. If yours isn't running as quick / fast as stock you may want to consider putting the airbox back on and tuning the engine to match; stock was fast. If you need a bike that runs in the 11 second or lower 1/4 mile you may wish to consider a different, newer model; otherwise you may need to spend more money than is practical. Ed

The 34mm Carbs are more than big enough for a 750 displacement, in fact they are more than big enough for 1000cc bikes too. Some people prefer the Mikuni BS carbs for tuning purposes but bot will work just fine.

IF you want to make more power swapping for a GPZ head or installing a more aggressive cams is common on the 750's
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Did you really expect an air cooled 8 valve 34 year old 750 four cylinder to be anywhere near as fast as a water cooled 16 valve newer GSXR1000? 74 hp vs what, 130-140 hp? And the GSXR100 is probably lighter.

You bought the wrong Kawasaki 750, you should have bought a 84-85 GPz750 Turbo (AKA 750 Turbo). Few simple mods and it would leave the GSXR1000 looking at a tail light. Fellow member Lorcan has run over 211 mph on a measured mile standing start track, and ~9.30 in the quarter mile, with a slightly modified 84 750 Turbo.
