see if we can get the thing through the Ca area in some amount of reasonable time...any other Ca kzriders that have not chimed in???

bigsert info will be on the other thread about helicoil repairs...but a few pics in this thread are relevant ,as the bike was down hard for the count -no relay- and now is up and ready for it's short leg.....

the first pic shows the old plug with the generic thread insert still seized on the plug-as it was when it shot out while riding- as well as a new generic (auto store) insert and bigsert for reference

this one aint coming out...could do em all for new threads but no need to get carried away....anyone need this kit let me know...no worries

We're also heading out this next weekend for our N. CA 1K plus trip. I'll be on my old 90 Concours this ride. Saving the KZ for the Rally in August, that will be at least 1300mi round trip!!

Will Do Daryl AND you have a great ride too! Will have to make it out to N. CA, the Trinity Alps and such sometime.

Also, will be riding through South Fork, CO on June 26th and will stop for a quick visit with our KZ Rider Relay Rally hosts, Craig & Annette Williams. Will post an update on the Ute Bluff Lodge once back.

Eddiem, it sounds like Craig is out. :( Our ride would look something like this. Not very interesting, but it will keep moving.

it really was simple...the vacuum did not feel like it was getting too much debri.....most must have stayed on the greased reamer and threader tips....first a reamer tip gets the old threads gone---then a threader tip threads for the insert....then a locked tip holds the the insert--- goes in and then unlocks and is removed leaving the insert...then another tapered threaded goes in the insert and that tip spreads it and then is removed....really simple...the new plug went in like butter and squished its gasket easy enough..fired right up....went for long ride no issues....the green hose was just laying on the patio for garden pot water that morning and I was too lazy to move it...
I would hope someone here can use this kit one day...otherwise I may ebay it and get some money back...or put it on a shelf and never need it again..

As far as the relay ride I'm out of it for a month and some...so if you guys can keep it moving then please do...
i'm good here

Those Forest roads east of you are calling. They would be a great ride. Maybe down one route and back another?
