ANYWAY. hope your ride is a good one - when you get a better handle on days and times - at least as far as I'm concerned here in the John Day area, let me know so I can plan accordingly. Sure wish I could ride with you on the way over to Boise, but if that's a Saturday, I'll be gone from 8:30 a.m. to about 2 p.m.

Hopefully, can hook up on the return - gotta take the bike out on another longer season shakedown ride, I saw a small oil leakage up on one of the valve cover bolts, so pulled it out and re-sealed it - and dropped the needles in all 4 carbs at the same time, since it was running a tad richer than I like. A longer ride tomorrow or Tuesday will tell me what the changes accomplished...

okay so meet on Saturday in Boise. Or we could meet a little bit north of Boise in Horseshoe Bend. It is very close to where you will be staying and will save Kaw-a-holic a little bit of miles. Unless you guys want to come into Boise for some reason.
I was thinking something like this for my ride maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&mid=1376289696

That would have us all meet in Horseshoe Bend and then I could make the ride to Ontario, OR with Motor Head. If you guys want to come into Boise for whatever reason then I'll think of something else.

Your map link didn't work. But Horseshoe Bend is OK. Can't think of any reason to actually go into Boise, other than I remember lots of attractive women live there. :P
When is a Time that you will be able to meet? Kaw-a-holic and I should be set up at camp before sunset easily on Saturday. I should be there mid afternoon, during the hot part of the day.

The weekend of 17-18 won't work for me, but the next one is good. What part of the state will you want me to ride?
I live near Portland, Oregon and my rider is a '76 KZ900 I bought new. I'm also in the process of restoring another one and a '73 Z1.

Well depends on your schedule and the next guy, Schuss in Seattle. I was thinking it could be a ride up together to meet him. Hopefully he could ride south at least a ways. Maybe we can meet up on the 24th, do the transfer between us. Then when you have a time to take it up north, we can see how it all pans out. Personally I would like to see it go to Kilman in BC on/ near Labor Day. A ride to Seattle doesn't bother me. As I posted there is a nice ride up behind mt St Helens, coming out on the 12 at Randle. Then N on the 7, up to Enumclaw, into Renton, over to Issaquah where I have Relo's. Always good for a BBQ and a Cold one.

I was thinking I would ride out with you when you are leaving the area. My map should have shown a route from Boise to Horseshoe Bend to Emmett to Ontario where I will drop off and back to Boise. So you are arriving Saturday and riding out on Sunday?

The 25th is a busy day for me - the 24th is OK though. My wife and I were thinking we could make a three day trip out of it on Labor Day weekend, either north or south.

Thats great. Sounds like your both up for it. Hopefully Schuss will be in touch soon.
Also Killman, up in BC. Hopefully he will be in touch also.

I'm here, if you guys are thinking about coming around Mt St Helens that would work great, I'd be able to meet you somewhere on Hwy 12 and escort you into Seattle. If that's looking like the evening of the 24th or sometime the 25th that would work for me.

Lets plan 2 routes. One with Boise, ID and one some where between the two of us. Im in Missoula MT. Where in Oregon are you coming from? Are you taking it to WA afterwards?

Bend, Oregon
2 routes, sure. Lets try to get Mike involved. If that falls through we can have a back up plan/ route. Now that I know which weekend, I can get sometime off. See who wants to also ride along etc. Maybe Toolmaker wants to come from Portland? Maybe Bill/ KZCSI may be able to get away for the ride. Who knows.

So riders interested in Oregon. Please let me know if you would like to be part of this relay ride.
Saturday the 17th, this next week. Ride from Bend, to Boise. Then if you desire, ride up into the corner of Washington, then back to Bend from the north. Its the ride I posted already.
Now we are also going to plan another route. If we are Not going to be able to meet with Mike in Boise, we will most likely have a more northerly route there also. This back up route is currently in the works and I'll post it soon.

Something like this?
goo.gl/maps/2mQwk

This was the original plan I posted before
goo.gl/maps/gE5HU

Current weather forecast is for clear and in the 80's. Sweet. Come on guys, lets ride!

Given the distance you are proposing to travel from Bend to Boise, and then on, sorta makes sense to try to meet up with Toolmaker at someplace like the Dalles for the handoff, then he could start the route on up north - then you'd have an easy ride down the 97 thru Madras, and on home - about the same distance, and one more handoff and flag progress...

Hanging pegboard and building a tool cabinet and shop lights today, might even get to work on my bike this week. So far the Labour Day weekend sounds good. I'll be able to figure out exactly where a little closer to the date. I've never been to Seattle...
Anyone know of a decent place to stay near Tillamook Oregon? A couple from our local motorcycle training school, (Vancouver Island Safety Council) are taking a little trip, I figured someone here might have some ideas...

You wouldn't sentence me to a 97 ride from the Dalles to Bend would you? Booooooring :silly:
I've got a couple of other rides to go from the same two places, but not on 97, or at least much. For one thing thats where the cops are, and the traffic.
Personally the distances are not a problem, but a great trip/ adventure. I'm looking at several mother side excursions as well. 3 days of riding is what I have planned. Didn't ride last weekend, or the weekend before so I got to make up a bit. :P

So are you planning on riding south? All the way to Tillamook with your group ride? Or is it just for those members? I don't know of any place off hand, but toolmaker might.
Otherwise, what sort of plan do you have for our Labor Day weekend? If possible a meet on it would be good I think for everyone else. Toolmaker and his wife want to ride, sounds like Schuss is ready etc.

I know toolmaker has commitments on the 25th, so thats out. The 24th is when I was planning on meeting him for the handoff. But it will be labor day weekend, not sure yet which day, but any/ all is fine with me, to bring the flag N to Seattle. I suggest the ride from Carson to Randle along the way. Meeting on the 12 near the 7 would work for me. If I come along. Toolmaker should have the flag for that ride so its up to him when and where.

It's just the couple that are going to Tillamook.

Assuming the fates smile upon me, my tires arrive and I get them mounted, and no other mysterious gremlins arise... Then YES! South I shall ride! Might even get the girlfriend to ride along, (not much luck convincing her to drive chase in the van). I'm not sure if I'll take the ferry to Seattle, Port Angeles, or island-hop starting with San Juan.

Sh!t, it just occurred to me that my passport might be expired, do I still need a passport to cross the border? Anyone know offhand?

Yep, Passport is a most definite. Gone are the simple days of crossing the border.
The Ferry system from Sydney to Friday Harbor, then on through the Islands to Anacortes is great. But it will take some time, if you plan on getting of and sight seeing/ riding etc. If so, the town of Mt Vernon, near I5 could be a meeting spot. Thats about 90 miles N of Seattle.
All in the air at the moment, so Input is appreciated.
