Got her done!!! Hand off went smooth as silk, just like we knew it would B) .
Met boatdrinks & son, and ron768 at Jeff Busby Park on the Natchez Trace parkway this afternoon for the hand off. Weather was nice, a bit cool and overcast, but fine weather for riding.

All my riding buddies(????) left me out in the cold on this ride, but I ended up getting my BIL to ride the 550 with me for the hand off. My son had a class trip to NOLA that we didn't have marked on the calender, so he had a legit excuse!!! For all you other FFs that wussed out, , you just missed a fine ride :P

Here's the band of KZ riding outlaws. boatdrinks and ron768 should have some great pics to go with these.

Heading out

steeds of the posse - 3 '78s and an '82
boatdrinks rides a pristine 1978 KZ650B2 with original paint in EXCELLENT condition
ron768 rides a 1978 LTD1000 that he bought in Germany. Bike has close to 150k on it and is a daily ride. Very nice bike.
BlackZ1-R left his Z1-R in the stable and rode his 1978 KZ1000A2 w/57k+ on this ride
BIL Dave riding a 1982 KZ550c LTD ...an 18 year, low mileage garage find

boatdrinks & son and ron768

Had a great time meeting some good guys that share equal KZ enthusiasm as I have.
Hate I missed out on the camp out, but my back is toast.
Heh, that hot cup of coffee hit the spot and finally got the muscle relaxers to kick in and ease up the back pain for the ride home. Y'all turned around right in time. We went through a slight mist for about two miles and it was clear sailing from there on out. we clocked 252 miles today. The KZ1000 got 42mpg+, and the little 550LTD got a HUGE 62 mpg :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Kevin,

Great to meet you and your BIL Dave. It was a gloomy, cool and sometimes wet day but we got it done and had a blast doing it. Go to this link on photobucket for pictures thus far. We are currently in Starkville and will head out for home in a little while. Will get pictures on the Trace as we make our way back. Weather is supposed to be much better today.

Hey, can anyone remind me who it was that got the patches? We are down to just one in the packet. I tried to locate who it was but couldn't and with my repeating senior moments I don't stand a chance of remembering!

I provided the ride stickers & put the last of them in with the packet seemed like there were
plenty of patches left at the handoff at least enough to finish the next leg????
I would look again but I think they were a bonus I dont remember anyone volunteering them

Made it back home yesterday around 4:00. Day started off at 46 degrees and cloudy but warmed to 52 by by the time we got on the road. We finally got some sun somewhere north of Tupelo but was still a by chilly. Total miles for the trip, 544 miles. Total miles for the two legs that I rode, 824. The old girl ran great with no issues.

This was an awesome experience and I appreciate the opportunity to participate, and all the great people and new friends I have met.

It's on to leg #3. :woohoo:
I will pass it to WABBMW from Houston in one, or maybe, two weeks.
Not sure if they are going to change the route like KZRage did on leg #2 to get the logistics to work out better or not.
My opinion was to move it out West so more riders can keep it going while the Mid West was under a blanket of snow

I don't know where they came from but a guess would be from extra moneys generated through the sales of Relay T-shirts  if so , thank you Topper.

I would again like to say thank you to Ram for getting the stickers made.

It would be cool to have an actual Relay patch made somewhere down the line, I'm in for 20 bucks to get it rolling if someone can make it happen :)

I agree with you on this, maybe a vote is in order .
