Well I'll throw my hat in the ring to organize the next leg to cover the last of the east of the Mississippi states/provinces unless someone else really wants to do it.

If the seaboard leg is going to go south to north ending in Newfoundland and if a reverse trip isn't doable then it might be better to ship it to boatdrinks in Alabama to start the second leg from the south to north.

If it travels north to south the second leg would be much easier to route but the shipping idea will work too.

I'll post the second leg in the original post so not to make this too much of a Where's Waldo hunt for info on the relay for folks.

jydog and enaz1,

What do you think about meeting up somewhere along line of I-85 maybe Spartanburg or so for GA/SC/NC part?

That should be a day trip distance for both way.

Sure, Panama City would mean an 11 hour round trip for me. Two hours more than meeting you half way up the I75. But a heck of a lot more interesting. So what are you proposing JYDog, that we meet for Spring Break in Panama City? B) Not sure if my wife would allow that, hehehehehhe. But in all seriousness, as long as the bike is up to it, I'm up to it. Maybe flyndrive and Boostable can chime in on what they would like to do. Maybe Boostable can do a leg with flyndrive, then I can meet Boostable for the exchange. Then onward to Panama. Boostable? Panama is within range for you as well, isn't it? :) I will repost this message on the east coast thread. But just wanted to put it here as well so people who have been following this thread can keep abreast of what is going on.

This all sounds good to me. With the people we have and depending on where the Florida entry point is we may be able to make a loop in the state. Maybe come in by Jax/Lake City, I can pick it up and take it south and hand it off or go west if need be.

I would be up for a run north on the return leg as well. :). Once we get the days set we can figure it out.

But either way is good for me. I will either be on the 900 or the 1000 if it is done!

Here's a stab at a very (very) rough route connecting the cities of all the East Coast riders plus a few extra stops. I fully expect individual riders to do what makes sense for them and their neighbors when shaping the actual route. Also Google maps tends to send you on highways and I bet most of us will want to take a few backroads along the way.

I think this hits every state up and down the east coast plus Mississippi, Alabama, West VA and Pennsylvania.

If we don't have a rider for WV I can ride through the WV panhandle and pass the flag to someone in Winchester or Front Royal VA. Ed

Ed, that sounds good. I'm working to get my bike together, and I do believe I will have it back together by April at the latest, but meeting out in Winchester or Front Royal would definitely be doable. And then I could ride it down to Topper and cruise with him for a bit.

Ed/Michael, if you guys have any logistics issues for covering WV then I think hypnohio can cover that on the 2nd leg though I haven't ran that by him yet as I'm trying to find a western PA rider to take it from him to take it north from there. He lives in Marietta which is directly on the Ohio/West Virginia border.

I haven't started a new thread about the 2nd leg yet but there is some info in the main relay thread located here: Main Relay Post

Update: I have sent a post off to cobura to see if he is still in on the relay. He is located in Pittsburgh so if he's a go that makes it a good fit for the 2nd leg too. Nothing says we can't cross a state twice on different legs so if you guys or another member wants to do this then I say the more the merrier!

That'd be great. It simplifies the East Coast run if we don't try to pick up Miss, Alabama and Pennsylvania along the way.

I don't think WVA will be problem, but like you said, it won't hurt to cross a state twice if needed.

Hi Boostable, there are only four of us in Florida (you, me, FlynDrive, and now KZCM in the panhandle). If you can get it from FlyNDrive somewhere down the Atlantic coast, I can meet you in Orlando or somewhere else. You can meet FlyNDrive one weekend, and me the following. Or, whatever fits all our schedules. I was originally thinking I would meet up with JyDog in Panama City. But now with KZCM in the picture, I can meet up with him instead. Hopefully in Panama City. Would you be up to Panama City as well? Let me know. Don't know if JyDog still wants to make it all the way down to Panama City, but if he does, maybe KZCM can escort him back North part way. What do you guys think about Mid-March or so. If the Florida guys and JyDog can chime on this, please do.

Mid march sounds good to me. I was thinking about coming up through Okeechobee and maybe meet Boostable in Yeehaw Junction.

I'm going to see if I can get a bunch of bikes together (mostly Coast Guard freinds) (I'll have to only KZ in the bunch, but it will be a good ride) to ride up with me. Just need to come up with the start date. Maybe March 10 or 17.

Yeah, YeeHaw Junction definitely cool. At least it was last time I rode through in the early 80's. Rode through with my buddy on bikes. Smoked a doobie there during our stop (like I said, long time ago). Not sure what is there now but I did a Google Satellite and Street view and there is a lot more now. But still not bad (got a fancy new Pilot Gas station showing). I think this one of only two or three buildings there was back when I went through.

Mid march works fine and I can make the jaunt over and meet you in Panama city. Or, if we go with the rough proposal where the token is shipped from Newfoundland to Pensacola, I can make the trip north to enaz1.

We can do YeeHaw, but you have to bring the doobie!! LMAO.

I am available most of March except for the 8-11th which is the MAC Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville. Its my annual spring get away for my nitro fix!! Only other date that may be booked is the 24th as I may be attending the Diesel Drags...

I can ride anywhere, anyway and may get a few to ride along as well, might even be able to do an overnight to the panhandle. :)

Information for planning purposes:

Looks like I could hit the Natchez Trace and catch part of Mississippi on a one day trip. It would be fun to ride the Trace. I would probably only go far enought to get it(Mississippi) checked off of the list so if someone else wants to ride thru there don't let me stop you. I am just throwing it out there to those who are planning the trips.

Yes, it is going to be a race for me as well JyDog. Mine is not in the same league as your build, but my time is very limited. But this is great motivation for me to get it all done. It would be great if you make it to Panama City. You, myself, KZCM and I think Boostable has an interest in riding there. Maybe KZCM would be interested in escorting you part way back to Griffin. But this is something to workout between yourselves.

Boostable wrote: We can do YeeHaw, but you have to bring the doobie!! LMAO.

   , sorry Boostable. But those days are long gone B) . I'll buy you a beer instead. It would be great if you made Panama, but not sure if an overnight trip is possible for anyone with Spring break raging on at that time of year. Hotel rooms would be jammed. For myself, I figured I would do a very early morning start 5:00 am or earlier, and a late return in the night. We will probably feel a bit dated with all the young people around  . As far as dates, between March 12th and 23rd would work for me. From what I read, for everyone else in Florida, Mid-March sounds promising. No need for commitment yet. Things change, we could come up with a date once we get closer to March. That's my .02.

KZJOE900,

Im going to put off a few things in my build for this, like EFI etc.. Just the basics to get her road worthy. All she needs to do is make it 250 miles back home. Right now she needs some depends. The old girl gave up her seals on the shifter and has a 10" puddle of new oil under her. No fancy sportbike gas cap, No paint, minimal lights, probably going to clear the tank in raw steel. My wife might be riding with me on her suzuki ls650 she got for Christmas so the more the merrier. Plenty of cold beer in PCB
