Bull, thanks for your stepping up, hope to hear from Cobura soon as I have a feeling it will move quickly down from Michigan as that crew has been anticipating getting the flag quite a bit!

Sounds like things are coming together.Haven't heard from Cobura, so it's great Bull Durham is in the mix. Depending on how he(they) decide to come down from Pittsburgh, they may go through WV anyway if they head for the river.

I dropped off the grid for a minute (lots of rural riding in eastern Iowa, and near parts of IL,WI,MN, and even MO, put 2k miles on the bike in the last month alone) and was afraid I'd missed the Iowa segment but, err, seems like I've got plenty of time.

May have to buy some cold-weather gear at this point, if the flag keeps making this kind of progress it'll be october or later before I see it (assuming anyone else rides year-round). Still unsure about the route, be I can and will ride a couple hundred miles to grab the flag for my segment (so generally speaking I can grab it from anywhere including St.louis, chicago, minneapolis, kansas city or omaha).

Might have to start a gas fund though, finding a decent jerb is proving harder than I thought...

From Pittsburgh you can't go East or South, without running through at lease part of West Virginia, so I don't have any choice, no matter where Hypnohio wants to meet up.

I couldn't decided on what bike to ride to pass the flag to him, and was feeling bad about one being left out, so am going to have a buddy ride my other bike along with me and we can swap back and forth on the bikes, so both of my bikes will get to be a part of this.

I will be meeting bluej58 near the border early afternoon and making the ride from there to FT Wayne with him.

I sent dmiller and cobura PM's today. If there is no response by Sunday when Andy gets the flag to Wiggens then it will go from Wiggens to Bull Durham.

Curt thanks for meeting me in White Pigeon, once we got off State road 5 and past the Amish traffic jam in Shipshewana ,route US 33 from Ligonier to Fort Wayne is a real nice ride.

Surprisingly 5 heading North from Huntington Lake is a beautiful rural road that goes through some nice little towns all the way up to US 30, which started out nice, smooth and fast but got progressively worst as it got closer to Valparaiso.
I stayed on it into Illinois but bailed after Da Heights probably wouldn't go that way next time. the buckled road and pot holes finally woke my poor ass up

500.5 total miles, 70 with Curt and the flag.
Still planning on being a part of leg 3 when it comes around

I wish I could have stayed longer but it was a good thing I left when I did,
had just enough time to take care of everything before dark.

I sent them both a pm when I joined, haven't heard anything back from either. I'll pm Wiggens then, give him my cell phone. Is Wiggens his handle, I can find him under that name?

Like I said, I'm gone on a cycle trip from Sept 1st to the 24th, so I hope this doesn't cause problems or hold it up too much, because I really want to be part of this. If it is going to cause problems like a chain reaction, I could try and cut my cycle trip a little bit short, by a few days.
