Hello KZ riders,

After getting square eyes from reading trough thousands of pages on this forum, I am finally starting my own build topic.
First of all thanks to all the wonderful stories and solutions I see here from you all.
I am deeply impressed with all the knowledge and tips tricks that you are sharing, and also the pictures that come with the stories.
I have been riding bike since I was 18 years (the legal age to drive a bike or car in The Netherlands) starting on a Yamaha 2 stroke RD400.
After that followed a Z650, GSX750, Z1000MK2, Honda VF1000R and finally a GPZ900R (I was in the airforce during "Top Gun" so I just had to have one:-)
The Gpz900 was sold about 12 years ago and I have been more busy with my house and cars.
The bike which was always on my mind but I never bought however was the granddaddy of all super bikes, the (K)Z1000.
(in Europe the kawa's are Z in stead of KZ like in the states, i don't know why)

After looking at my PC wallpaper (which is a Sanctuary 900) for a couple of years I decided to finally start looking for a suitable bike.
I found one december last year but I was in the middle of buying another house so I did not got the green light from "the boss"
3 months later the same bike came up for sale a second time and this time I grabbed it up.
The plan is tho further modify the kawa till it looks something like a Sanctuary.
The previous owner already started to rebuild so that saved me a lot of headache.
He installed a GSXR1100 front fork and a ZRX1100 rear both with the Suzuki wheels.
That with 3 boxes of parts is a good start.
Already to manny words and no pics so before loosing attention I will start with some pics.

as it was bought by the previous owner.

Nice, Should be fun to watch.

BTW the reason the "K" was dropped from the designation in the Euro and some Brit Commonwealth markets was because KZ was one of the abbreviations the Nazis used for concentration camps (German: Konzentrationslager, KZ or KL).

never to old to learn something.

I have been collecting a bunch of parts the local eBay, the european eBay, and suppliers in the States.
Luckily I have to travel a lot for my job and can send packages to my hotel.
This weekend i received a Dyna 2000s from Z1E in NY and end of this week I will be picking up my packages from D&G and Z1E in Arlanta :)

Welcome aboard! I hope those shocks were from a reputable source and not from Ichiban Moto (see link below). Just kidding. ;) Ed

Ed, I admit I have some items from China :woohoo:
But those are more for show and things like wires, waterproof connectors, blinkers and heat shrink cable.
Nothing where my life depends on like drive train or suspension

Mcdroid, tanks
This is not my garage but from he guy I bought the bike from.
I am resizing some pics so I can post them.
So you have to do your own garage :)

First thing I did was sorting things out.
What I have to start with :
-1977 Z1000 frame, tank side caps seat and engine which was running a year ago according to the previous owner.
-1993-1998 GSXR110 Suz front and wheels plus brakes.
-rear of a Kawasaki ZRX1100 (don't know the year exactly)
-wiring loom of a ER5 Kawasaki
-Handles of a ZX6R and I think also the cockpit and ignition switch.

Things I already bought:
-Dyna 2000 ignition
-DID 114 link chain
-14mm offset 19 tooth front sprocket
-40 tooth rear sprocket (took my a while to figure that out. Z1000 offset front to Suz wheel on ZXR110 rear :pinch: )
- numerous small bits and parts.

The Plan!:
-Fixing wiring loom(done)
-Fixing sprocket alignment (almost done. tomorrow will be shaving 2 mm of the rear hub)
-Clean carbs with fresh seals and needles (partly done, will be spraying some parts before reassemble )
-Remove and clean engine for spraying (Is the only thing I will be doing to the engine apart from electronic ignition)
-prep the frame for welding ( most is partly done but need some professional looking at it)
-refurbishing the Tokico brakes.
-Installing hydraulic clutch on D&G clutch release mount.
etc,etc
