i used to think that too :laugh: but im hard on bikes, blew a few motors in my time. im trying to figure out a way to remedy this cause ive seen a few kz clutches like this or at least close. basket is like new its just the springs so i dunno what the issue is. but if i broke it once you can bet your ass i wont break the same part twice. overkill it on the rebuild :evil:

thats nice but out of my beer budget hahaha and leon the shaftie basket has more plates distributing power acrost more surface area. im thinking the spring retainers and springs are the weak link, the retainer has a sharp edge that cuts a grove into the spring and the spring is mayhaps brittle. if you look at the rolled edge around the spring pocket youll see the angle on it is harsh and unsmoothed. im guessing the torque of the launch is causing a sheering action against the spring.

seems jays kit addresses the rivets and springs but there's def an issue with the spring pocket anyone ran into this?

also im sure someone somewhere has the idea that im just throwing money at this thing, just so everyone is aware im getting alot of used parts and parts made from wireman and wheeling and dealing with members. im 24yr old single dad\mechanic with cutback hours and a lil sidework to help. i drink pabst blue ribbon and eat cheap to make this shit happen.so anyone can do this project stuff.

I know you have been around the block with KZ builds and probly looked at this stuff 10 times....but if you missed it, might help....LOL

That second link looks like the APE kit.

Sometimes there's pieces money has to be thrown at. Not suggesting it needs to be done everywhere. I've thrown away my share on my build - it won't happen the next time.
