hei DD, glad to see you are not giving up!

just from what i see, the onyl recomendation i have is to go with electronic ignition rather than points.

and if you feel like trying, maybe early gpz cams ?

i use 90s GSXR black boxes, rotor and pickups i buy at swap meets, cheap, pretty easy to adapt them to the kz bottom end.

if not, the complete system off a gpz550 should bolt on too

there should be some pics in my build thread

Thanks, TG. That's exactly what I'll be doing. Early GPZ cams, Dynatek Dyna 2000 ignition. I didn't realize the Gpz550 setup was a swapover - probably cheaper, but I have peace of mind with the Dyna.

dont want to start WW III here but i have a lot more peace of mind with those OEM ignitions rather than Dyna. never had an ignition DNF in five years with the GSXR system.

the 2000 is a better (and costlier @ 400$) system than the "Dyna S" but still, i've seen too many DNFs and endless trouble with ALL dyna systems in road racing conditions.

the 550 system that is really interesting is the 84 and up which has electronic advance, just like the GSXR's it simplifies everything. guess that a GPZ600s is the same
