Wireman and Stu - thanks for posting. All good and some quality banter. I'm thinking a combo of plate and tubing for suring the head tube. I'll post pics.

Here is a link to a documentary that Leon did of the tree stem swap. sometimes pics help.

kzrider.com/forum/5-chassis/325862-triple-tree-custom-work

Leon did such a great job of this that i just love to pass it on.
this is the cheapest way to do it. i did 1 for my bike as well.

if u didnt get those frame brace files, just let us know, we'll hook u up.
here is 1 of the best pics.
kzrider.com/filebase/cat_view/231-not-model-spesific

follow the page down to the frame document. its a pdf file . here is a pg from it.

Just been looking at that Sanctuary doc and something caught my eye - item '6'. Specifically there is a gold line following the curve of the cradle bar as it turns horizontal (and under the tank). The gold paint looks to indicate that there was a mod there, but whatever it is it's pretty subtle as I can't really see anything. As my Japanesse is a little non-existent, the notes don't help.

Kind of looks like the've run a rib or something along the tube. Anyone know?

Actually, I believe that it is a piece of tube that has been sectioned and bent to follow the main tube. It's welded to the underside of the tube to create a double walled section IIRC.

That makes sense. Might have to have a go at that myself.
