Those parts looked good enough that the NASA guys didn't gripe about it, and believe me, they will find anything to gripe about. Our Haas VMC's struggle to have enough memory for serious 3D programs. We usually have to clear out the memory and just run the 3D milling as a separate op. Do you have that problem with yours? Your cover looks good from here.

Thanks guys for all the positive feed back I am glad you like it so far.
Josh I haven't had any problems with memory on my vf1 mainly because I run all my programs from my laptop and send it to the cnc controler through a rs232 cable. I dont store any programs on the cnc, they are all on my laptop,cd's or jump drives. It makes it a lot easyer to edit them or I can take them with me I have a freind in sarasota that has a shop and sometimes I take my laptop with me and we trade files and programs. Plus I like to draw and write programs when I am at the house watching tv. Not sure how much memory I even have on my vf1 I guess I should check, might be nice to know lol.

Today I felt like trying a couple of head light bracket ideas that I had. After going through all the drawings that I had done I decided to cut this one and see how it looks, I feel like it came out ok I will change up the program a little in the morning and cut the right side one and see what they look like. I realy need to finish up the rest of the outsided drive bearing support but I just felt lazy as hell today.

Mike, I like the design, but what's up with that surface finish on the upper surface of the part? Are those stepover lines from a 3D profile? Rougher stepping over 0.050" and the finisher isn't cutting enough to clean it up? Also, maybe it's just the picture, but the finish above the third knuckle looks like the endmill dug and chattered. I know you'll get it on the next one. If I had a dollar for every time a program didn't go as planned, I'd be buying a round for everyone on KZR right now.

Ya those are step over lines from my rough cut I was feeding too fast and left some lines that the finish cut didnt take out, but my concern is that dig around that third knuckle, I dont know what that is but I will find out for sure,I am on my way into the shop now to work on the program and cut another one and see what is up. I'm in the same boat as you ,if I had a dollar for every program that didn't work the first run I wouldn't have to build my own bike right now someone else would lol. Anyway I'll check it out and post soome pics later.

Ok I think I found the problem in the program I'll run it now and see what gives.

Ok so I changed the program and recut them and I think I can live with them now, still need too cut the back side of the right side one but other than that you can get the idea.

Much better. I knew you would get it. Stupid question. What's the red anodized thing that's clamped to the table next to your mill vice? Is it some kind of a vice stop?

That's all you needed to say. I deal with MSC quite a bit. After the fiasco with the last Kennedy tool box I bought, the MSC salesman should comp me a mill stop.
