You also have CRAZY GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY skills, what's you camera and lens setup? And do you shoot pro?

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm really just starting out; I'd personally still rate my skill as amateur but I'll try anything, the trickier the more rewarding. Bought a Canon 70D almost 2 years ago and pretty much been learning ever since. Got a Sigma 1.4 50mm, a Canon 10-22mm, the 18-135mm Canon kit lens, and a Canon 40mm 2.8 pancake, Manfrotto tripod, Canon 600EX-RT flash, and a Rode stereo microphone. Did a wedding, wasn't fun, shot a kickball tournament, a golf tournament, some car shows, and a couple retirement parties (which reminds me I have another coming up this week), REALLY want to get a supertelephoto lens for wildlife and the Sigma 18-35 1.8 for indoor stuff. Not good at photoshop, but very good using Lightroom.

Was anybody riding tonight??? Did you see this:

Very cool stuff!

I thought it was an eclipse. I saw just the last of the moon before it disappeared. I thought about taking a shot of it but wasn't sure.
Steve

No good.

No good.

It was a lunar eclipse, a strawberry moon, and something else because it was larger than normal. Yeah it's recommended that you use minimum 200mm focal length for shooting the moon, even my shot was at 135 and it was very significantly cropped down....any more cropped and it would start looking fuzzy and crappy. That was a pretty cool moon though tonight.

No one said anything about it. it was so large due to the time it came up. I could see the outline of the moon and a crescent on the right, red also.

I think I learned about it earlier in the week while I was clicking away at Yahoo news links....I know I miss a LOT of these events so when on the off chance I snag a astronomy story that's photoworthy I try to make a point to shoot it. Astronomy phenomenon isn't exactly eye-catching to viewers, so the newspeople bury those stories. I have a friend on Facebook who is really good at finding out when and where really weird astronomy stuff happens that nobody hears about, I gotta find out what his source is.

I heard about it on WGN news, Tom Skilling, the weather man mentioned it, & mentioned that it would be too cloudy for us to see in my area, & it was, but the clouds had a pinkish shade to them & the sky looked brighter than usual even though it was so cloudy, He also mentioned that this phenom wont happen again until 2033

I knew I should have gotten a pic. Lousy media is more interested in helping the Lib's than reporting real news.

Steve, a good hack for a getting closer photos with a smaller camera lens is to put binocular lens in front of the lens, I used to use a pair of 10x32 binoculars. I can't do that now as my lenses are too big for that in my DSLR, but for phone cameras and smaller point & shoots it's a pretty clever hack. The camera should still focus properly and function normally when doing this.

So changing the car oil yesterday. Right after I was all done cleaning up and stuff, dragged the oil pan out, picking up the filter and paper towels.....and tripped....but caught myself before falling....at the expense of putting my shoe right in the oil pan. Cappin' off another awesome weekend.

Don't feel bad, I changed my oil in the Euro, put in three quarts before I realized I didn't put the drain plug on.
