KZ550 LTD - Clutch Cable Replace - Basic Steps

Can anyone give me the basic steps for replacing the clutch cable on this bike. I don't yet have a service manual, and the clymer book isn't worth a damn when it comes to this operation.

Just an outline of what comes first, second, etc.

Thanks

i used the clymer manual and it worked out fine for me. basically, first I removed the cable from the handlebar, remember how it was routed. then remove the countershaft cover, and remove the cable. here is an article http://kzrider.com/clutch_cable_tip.shtml

Can you tell me, did you have to drain the oil for it?

A friend changed his (different model bike) and had to drain the oil to do so.

I don't think you need to drain the oil in order to just replace the cable...just remove the sprocket cover to get to the cable...no oil in there

Don't pull the clutch pushrod out when you replace the cable, or you *will* be draining oil...right out the pushrod hole ;)
